The New Territories are a great place to visit in Hong Kong because there are dozens of attractions spread throughout the area to keep travellers busy. There are a lot of historical places that take up the brunt of the tourist attractions but there are also some great landscapes and cuisine choices that will make it worth your while as well. Of course, the chance to see an entirely different way of life than what you are probably used to is another reason to consider it.
One of the most prominent historical attractions is the Lung Yeuk Tau heritage trail that is located in Fanling and stretches across an area called “Mountains of the Leaping Dragons” by the locals. Along the trail you pass by a great deal of ancient villages out of which five offer some very unique surprises of their own.
Another great spot to visit is the Ching Chung Koon which is found in the Tai Po region. It is a very large Taoist Temple that is delightful to walk around in and is a great example of Chinese tradition and design. If you enjoy temples you will also want to wander over the Man Mo Temple also found in Tai Po where instantly notice a calming atmosphere due to the mixture of fine splendor and delightful incense.
Finally, while in Fanling make sure to stop by the Fung Ying Seen Koon temple because it is one of the most influential and grand temples of the entire country. It is breathtaking to say the very least and is something that you will no doubt remember for the rest of your life. Due to its size, you will want to make sure that you put aside more time then when you visit the other temples.
