The new Savoy Resort & Spa in the Seychelles for the ultimate water sports holiday

The Seychelles is a number one destination for anyone looking for an active holiday filled with sun, beach and sea. These idyllic islands in the middle of the Indian Ocean offer the most beautiful beaches, the most colourful coral reefs, lush vegetation and turquoise blue water that remains at an average 26 degrees Celsius throughout the year.
Mahé’s Beau Vallon Bay is the perfect base for an active beach holiday. This section of the coast has a small harbour where snorkelling and sailing trips depart every day and from here, all nearby bays and islands, like Silhouette and Praslin, can easily be reached. The snow-white, flat, sloping beach is perfect for children and families and swimmers are free to move in the area which is strictly off-limits for motor-driven watercrafts.
A diverse range of water sports and equipment hire can be arranged by the Savoy Resort & Spa ( located directly on the Beau Vallon Bay. The 5-star hotel can cater for any aquatic pursuit and will arrange everything for you, working with local companies to provide everything from private charters to glass bottom tours and luxury fishing excursions. Sailing, kite boarding, kite surfing, windsurfing, jet-skiing and paragliding are just some of the water-based sports that visitors can indulge in.
If discovering the magical underwater world of the flat reefs around Mahé with a mask and snorkel is not enough, there are more than 24 diving schools, but the Savoy works with Big Blue Divers and Blue Sea Divers in particular, offering trips to the largely untouched coral reefs of the outer islands. Catering for beginners to professionals, the crystal clear water and coral reefs are accessible to everyone. For those confident to go deeper, giant groupers, reef sharks and humphead wrasses and also the impressive plankton-eating whale sharks can often be observed.
The seafloor descends more quickly on the stretches of the coast where there are no coral reefs and it’s here that kite and windsurfers can be found on the powerful breakers in these areas. For those not yet comfortable to surf alone on the big waves, there are local surf schools that can teach at every level. It is problem free to bring surfing equipment, just check baggage requirements with your airline, however equipment can also be rented on the island. Good surfing spots are found at Anse Lazio on Praslin from October until December.
After a day full of sports activities, the spacious wellness area of the Savoy Resort & Spa is the perfect place to relax – either in the Russian steam sauna or with a treatment in one of the six individual suites, three double suites for couples’ treatment and two Thai/shiatsu rooms. Guests are well looked after by the experienced team of qualified beauty and wellness therapists, offering a diverse programme focussed on beauty and relaxation. Choose from 13 different massages, ranging from classic to Asian and ayurvedic massage. The resort also has an enormous pool – at 700 m², the largest on the Seychelles – and the fitness center is open 24 hour each day.
The Savoy boasts 163 modern and roomy double rooms, including 18 junior and nine regular suites, as well as a penthouse. The rooms and suites range from 40 to 200 m², with the penthouse measuring 190 m². Room prices begin at 520 Euro per overnight stay for a double room.
