Take a trip to Gothenberg for a great short break

Sweden’s second-largest city is Gothenberg and the city is perhaps most notable for having the largest port in Scandinavia as well as being home of the notable University of Gothenburg.

The city was a planned city created by Dutch engineers at the beginning of the 17th century and since that time it became very popular as a harbour city. Throughout the 19th and 20th centuries, it was a city full of heavy industry however social and economic problems took a major toll on this industry during the 20th century which led to a heavier reliance on modern technology.

Since the decline of industry in the city, it has also become a much more popular tourist destination and there are many activities in the city specifically created to entertain tourists. One of the most popular trips is going to be taking a boat trip through the Gothenberg archipelago. This will be an incredibly beautiful journey so you should make sure that you take your camera with you.

If you’re looking for something a bit more adrenaline fuelled, then you should head to the amusement park in the city, which is the largest in Scandinavia. There are a huge number of different rides here for visitors to check out and it is going to be a great activity especially if you are travelling with children.

The architecture is also very notable in Gothenburg and much of it stems from the Classical architecture of the 18th century. Several 20th-century buildings also exist in the romantic style and have neoclassical elements from the 1920s. This juxtaposition of different types of architecture from different periods is quite remarkable and will be a fascinating attraction for many visitors.
