Revised guide is the perfect companion on a trip to Egypt

If you are looking for the perfect guidebook for a trip to Ancient Egypt then it would be a great idea to pick up William Murnane’s book on the subject which is appropriately entitled ‘Ancient Egypt’.

Many experts regard this as one of the best books written about the area if people are visiting and it brings the history of it to life with a huge amount of information.

The book was first written many years ago and since that time it has become very out of date. However, a new edition has recently been published which has been revised by an historian from Bristol University, Aidan Dodson.

This new version of the book brings ancient Egypt to life in a whole new way and is a wonderful addition to the original work by Mr Murnane.

Complete with a chapter on the wonderful medieval architecture of Cairo, and practical information. The book combines a guide with a compact yet wide-ranging cultural history and contains:  A complete background to Ancient Egypt, including its people and institutions and descriptions of the sites, with detailed plans and notes for all major and many minor monuments, all fully cross-referenced to the text.

Itineraries of the most significant Pharaonic remains from the Delta to Aswan, as well as Christian sites, and the great Islamic monuments around Cairo and detailed surveys of major monuments and accessible sites off the beaten track as well as over 200 area maps, plans and photographs.
