Great beach holidays for summer 2013

With the British weather seemingly in a state of confusion at the minute and thinks it is still winter, it is little wonder that we are flocking online to try and find a cheap summer holiday to give us something to look forward to. Some of the cheapest are to be found away from the well known resorts, and they all have a lot to offer the visitor in terms of weather and value for money.

The Adriatic coast of Albania is still largely undiscovered, which is great news for those looking for a cheap break somewhere that isn’t heaving with other tourists. The coastline runs for 380 miles and is peppered with both Roman ruins and pretty villages and this so called underdog of the Adriatic is being hailed by those seeking adventure as the new Croatia. White sand beaches, historic towns and remains from the Ottoman and Byzantine days are all to be found on this Albanian coastline.

On France’s Atlantic coastline is Côté Océan, a new, budget resort situated in Angoulins. There are 20 apartments here, ranging from 1 bedroom suites to a villa with 4 bedroom, as well as a pool, hammam, sauna and bar and is only 200m from the beach. 15 minutes from La Rochelle, which you can get to on the train from the UK, the décor is playful yet stylish and their deli runs all day offering everything from a snack to a meal, with evening dining also available.

Always dreamed of having your own island? Well the next best thing is holidaying on someone else’s, and this is what is available to you on Silver Island in Greece. Nestling in the Aegean, the Christie family are the owners of this 60 acre island and are now welcoming guests here from April to October by marketing it as a yoga retreat. There is no electricity and this self sufficient island is the ultimate get away from it all.
