Discovering Tunisia

Located in North Africa is the country of Tunisia and it also has a coast on the Mediterranean Sea. To the west you will find Algeria, and the south-east borders Libya. Most of this country is not really possible to visit as 40 percent of its land mass is made up of the Sahara Desert. That said, the country is still known as a tourist paradise for its other areas and there is plenty to see outside of the desert to keep tourists happy.

The real reason why Tunisia is so popular is because of its crystal clear water and beautifully sandy beaches. For those who enjoy swimming in the ocean, this is an unrivalled destination, and it is also great for people who enjoy watersports such as sailing, scuba-diving, and surfing.

In the south of the country you will find several resort areas which have numerous holiday apartments where you can self cater, or there are fully catered hotels. There are many activities that can be done here in these resorts including horseback riding, hiking and even playing tennis.

If you are looking for some souvenirs to take home from your holiday you should head to the town of Hammamet. The prices of things at the local market here will be very favourable, and you are sure to find something that you will love to bring back to your family. The city has a very vibrant nightlife as well and there are areas that are very popular with young people.

For those who are interested in a more cultural experience, then you should visit the Bardo Museum as this has a wonderful collection of cultural and historic items from Tunisian history. You should also visit the old part of the city, which is called the Medina of Tunis, it is a fascinating place to explore.
