HTC, one of the world’s leaders in mobile technology and innovation, are set to launch a new app that will provide consumers with an up to date intelligence on the most prestigious design capitals of the world. The app has been curated by influential and international designers and developed in a collaboration with the globally renowned and leading design magazine Wallpaper*.
The app, known as Wallpaper* HTC Global Design Tours will be dynamic and well informed insiders guide to must see shows, events and installations from the top design destinations.
Travelling around the world’s design fairs is inspirational but sometimes puzzling. Cities change when the design fairs come to town, bringing with them a spontaneous programme of ever-shifting events, openings and pop-ups. The Wallpaper* HTC Global Design Tours has been developed to help visitors get the best out of every city. First stop is Salone del Mobile in Milan where Wallpaper* editor-at-large Henrietta Thompson will be hanging out at Spazio Rossana Orlandi, and designers Claude Zellweger from HTC’s One&Co and Cristian Zuzunaga will reveal their favourite design haunts. In May, the Wallpaper* HTC Global Design Tours app will visit ICFF in New York and Art Basel in Hong Kong with more cities announced throughout 2013.
Optimised for the new HTC One, the world’s first full zero-gap aluminium unibody smartphone, each piece of app content will be complemented byspecially selected music tracks , bringing to life HTC BoomSound™, dual front-facing speakers that are a key feature of the new HTC One’s audio proposition. Providing a more immersive visitor experience, the music tracks are available to download from the Amazon store through the app.
“Design is HTC’s backbone so we are always looking to collaborate with leaders in this field like Wallpaper*,” says Claude Zellweger, Principal at One&Co (HTC) and contributor to the Milan edition of Wallpaper* HTC Global Design Tours app. “When designing a new HTC handset international design fairs often provide a source of inspiration. But it’s not always what is on show that catches our creative eye; it can also be the design treasures that each individual city has to offer. The Wallpaper* HTC Global Design Tours app is both an engaging and creative way to share this information.”
