airlinedestinations.co.uk launched for testing in October 2007.

The beginnings of the site though go back several years...

We started working in the travel industry in 1999. Working for several well-known and respected travel companies, we've worked in a variety of positions from the ground-up and acquired a wealth of knowledge and experience to pass on. More importantly we're also avid travellers ourselves and enjoy everything from backpacking to going 5-star!

Now you would think that travel agents would have access to the most important information they need to do their job: which airlines fly which routes, but that is not the case for a variety of reasons -quite often travel agents do not have internet access at their desks or are tied to one particular computer reservation system (CRS) and are more in the dark than their clients.
So back in 2000 we started to keep a file of all the airlines, which routes they flew and when. This was done informally and kept within the agency and used to help the people who worked there.

Then in 2001 the tragedy of 9/11 happened. A lot of people were made redundant in the travel industry including us. We tried to put this site online back then but we didn't have the technical know-how and (faced with trying to keep a roof over our heads), other things took priority...

Fast-forward 6 years and we've actually launched the site after a basic page was put up and then taken down in Oct of 2001.

Our plan for the site is to keep it simple: come to us and we will tell you which airlines fly where. We won't recommend any particular airline in our listings and we don't have any particular favourites -we'll leave that up to you.

Lastly we are proud to be independent and impartial. We are not owned by any travel agency, airline, tour operator or holiday company. No outside interference is allowed.

How is the site financed?

Obviously the site is free to use.

See the ad to the left? The site is financed through advertising, or more specifically affiliate links. We're happy to be open and honest about this.
If a visitor to our site clicks on a link to an airline or clicks on an advert and then makes a booking with that airline/advertiser a referral fee, (not much, quite often as small as 1%) is made to this site.

Now this is important: the price you pay to the airline or the advertiser is the same whether you go through one of our links or adverts as the price you would pay if you were to go direct to the advertiser.
The referral-fee comes from the advertisers marketing budget: there won't be any increase in your fare.

So what we're saying is if you like our site and find it useful help it to continue by coming to our site first -check your options - and then make your booking and have a great time!
